How should we control BMD motor driver as BLDC with external hall sensor?
Is DRV8776-Q1 or DRV8874-Q1 possible to use as BLDC motor driver instead of DRV8801-Q1(see this TIDA)?

That TIDA is a good reference and yes, DRV8874/6-Q1 are good options to consider for the same application.

Hi Ryan,

Is it possible to control BLDC motor as both of forward rotation and reverse rotation?
If yes, how could we achieve it? DRV8876-Q1 looks just one PWM input or EN pin.

Ochi-san,

PH controls direction which can be just a GPIO. EN can be PWM input to control speed. It is very simple.

Hello Ochi-san,

When operating a single phase motor, you need to invert the Hall output to change the direction. You can use an XOR gate to perform this function, for example SN74AHC1G86.

Hi Ryan,

you are correct. Hall sensor outputs 0/1 signal to PH pin, which is full depending on motor position, is it correct?
If yes, control signal we can set by an external MCU is only only PWM signal.
So I wonder if we can control motor rotation direction or not. If yes could you share how to control single BLDC rotation direction by just one PWM signal with fixed current direction by hall sensor output?
