DRV8353M: Compatibility issue

Hi,

Is DRV8353SMRTAT directly pin and functionally compatible with DRV8353SRTAT.

Our subcontractor could get from the suppliers only the DRV8353SM version... The datasheet is really complicated and to compare these two would be a massive work.

Therefore - it would be very much appreciated if someone from TI could chime in and verify if DRV8353SMRTAT can be used instead of the original DRV8353SRTAT?!

Naming components like this (adding later a new letter to the nomenclature when a new version is released) is really confusing...

The "M" designates a lower operating temperature range (-55C).

Thanks Matt - appreciated! Have to admit that your naming of these devices is a little confusing... The extended temperature variant might have been an afterthought? The nomenclature in the original data sheet for the DRV8353 does not reveal that there can be an "M" in the name string... Finding completely another datasheet for the same DRV8353M chip was a suprise...

Hi Christian,

The DRV835x family was built out first (all of those parts can be found in one datasheet) and the DRV8353M (extended temp, a different datasheet) and DRV8353F (Functional Safety Quality-Managed, another different datasheet) were added to the portfolio afterwards.

Thanks Matt for clarifying this to me! Nevertheless, finding so many different datasheets for basically the same part IS somewhat confusing. But I understand now the reason for this. Thanks again

Glad I can help! Part numbering is absolute chaos in general but we try sometimes to make it easier. Sometimes our attempts to make it easier result in more confusion from our customers anyway.
