DRV10964: Application to 6 slot 4 pole motor

Part Number: DRV10964

Hi Team,

DRV10964 can application to 6 slot 4 pole motor?

have any reference design or suggest?

  • Hello Kevin,

Thanks for posting to the MD forum. If the 6 slot motor is still a 3 phase motor then it should be possible. Usually if it is a 6 slot 3 phase motor the phases are just duplicated with the two coils in series. One thing to check would be the current ratings of the motor to make sure they meet the device specs. The number of poles pairs do not make much of a difference except for the amount of electrical cycles it takes to make one full mechanical rotation, the mechanical speed calculations, and even the BEMF constant.

Here is an FAQ you can look at as a quick selection guide for a DRV10x motor driver, it contains some specs that you can look at when making a motor selection. If you would like to send your motor specifications for us to review we can also help you with that. I hope this helps!.

    Best,

    Isaac
