DRV8840: Is there an order to input to each pin?

Hi team,

I received a question about DRV8840 from my customer.

Is there an input order for each pin? For example, if a voltage within the absolute maximum ratings is applied to the input pins when VM is not applied, does it cause malfunction or destruction?

Hello Yamaguchi-san

I am happy to assist you today. There should be no order problem for this device, and you should be able to provide logic voltages even if Vm is not applied. It is generally recommended to remove the logic voltages, reducing power consumption through the internal pulldown resistors. The device simply won't start until VM is above UVLO.
