DRV8301: Suggestion for DRV8301 pins

Part Number: DRV8301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV832X, DRV8303

We are using DRV8301 motor driver IC for our application. Since DRV8301 includes a buck converter however for our application we do not require a buck converter. But as per our application requirement, we need to connect buck converter pins PH (PIN 50, 51) and BST_BK (PIN 52) to ground and all other pins are left floating.

Is there an any issue if PH and BST_BK pins are connected to ground?

Please let us know your comments if there are any issues with this configuration.

  • Hello Sonali,

Please note that DRV8303 is a DRV8301 without the buck converter. Also we have newer devices like the DRV832x family (DRV8323S, for example).

To not use the DRV8301 buck converter, simply make all buck pins floating. Buck pins are indicated in the functional block diagram. I do not recommend tying these pins to GND.

    Thanks,

    Matt
