MCF8316A: suggest suitable device

Hello Sir/Ms.

My customer used architecture MC33039+MC33035 before.
Hope to find an alternative. Can replace the existing structure.
His motor specification is
3-phase BLDC with Hall sensor input
Voltage 24V@ 2A,
Speed control method: Analog input (0~5V), PWM two kinds
Positive and negative control is possible,
Can brake

I have introduced MCT8316Z, MCT8316A and MCF8316A. MCT8316Z has no analog input. MCF8316A and MCT8316A do not have RTM yet.
Is there any suitable Device I can introduce?

Hi Kami,

Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. Unfortunately, we do not have any sensored, integrated control BLDC motor drivers that is rated for 24V. Here are two options that we suggest:

1. DRV10987 - this is sensorless integrated control driver that can support 24V.

2. DRV10970 - this is sensored integrated control device but can only support up to 18V.

If both options do not work, then can you check with the customer if they would be interested in Gate driver + integrated FET motor drivers?

Hello Vishnu,

DRV10987 is sensorless. DRV10987 has no support Hall sensor. Customers want to be compatible with current motors. Can you suggest another part number?
Can customers also introduce the Gate driver + integrated FET motor drivers solution?

Hello Vishnu,

After discuss with customer RD. Customer want to use MCT8316Z + Analog to PWM IC. Analog to PWM IC general IC output PWM signal to MCT8316Z. Analog INPUT VOLTAGE 0~5V.

Did you have any suggestion of Analog to PWM IC?

We use TLC555 in DRV10963EVM to convert analog to PWM signal. Please check below document (page 20) for the schematic.
