DRV8245S-Q1LEVM: Starting with new EVM issue

Part Number: DRV8245S-Q1LEVM

Hi Team,

I have following request, can you please check and advise how we can support here?

"

We received the DRV8245S-Q1EVM, but no matter what I did for a week, the PC connection of the card could not be established.

I did everything according to the EVM document, I installed all the drivers, but I still keep getting the connection error.

For this reason, we have not yet been able to carry out the experiments.

I'm waiting for your help.

"

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Furkan Sefiloglu

  • Furkan,

The pre-production EVM's may not have the latest version of EVM firmware installed. Assuming the customer has installed the latest version of the GUI v0.4.0 it is recommended to do a firmware upgrade as per page-14 section 5.1, #6. Please follow procedure in section 5.3.4. It is important USB connection is made to the computer prior to switching on VBAT power supply as described on page-14 section 5. If the windows device manager shows two MSP COM ports enumerated under Ports it confirms proper detection of the EVM USB. I think a firmware upgrade should fix this problem. Thank you.

  • Furkan,

    Do we have an update?

    Thanks, Murugavel

Attached I am sending you some pictures. As they say, I gave 12v from vBat, I also flash it via GUI. 13 and 14. Com port on my PC, I tried every baudrate on both ports, but it still says there is no connection.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Furkan, Thanks for the update. "Flash Successful" message using GUI 0.4.0 is good news. As well as COM ports enumeration looks correct. The correct COM port is "MSP Application UART1". Typically manual selection will not be necessary. COM port and baud rate 9600 will be selected automatically - not necessary to try other baud rates only 9600 will work. Could we also please verify the jumpers, specifically J1 and J7 in suggested positions per the EVM UG and also please make sure the Status LED is blinking approximately once a second before the GUI selection for DRV824xS-Q1EVM is made. If it is not blinking, pressing push button S1 will reset the on board MCU and start blinking the Status LED. Thanks to the customer for their kind cooperation and patience and thank you. I hope we can get to a resolution soon.
