DRV8801: Leaving mode 2 pin floating to act as drop in replacement for drv8800

Part Number: DRV8801
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8800,

Hei, we have a design where we currently use the allegro  A3950SLPTR-T. Compared the datasheets and from there it seems that the drv8800 could be used as a direct replacement. But this one looks impossible to source at the moment, so i thought about using the drv8801.

The biggest difference between the drv8800 and drv8801 is the mode 2 pin (pin 16)and pin 15.

Pin 15 is VREG in the drv8800 and VPROPI in drv8801. In our design it is connected to a 220nf Capacitor and besides that not used. So i guess it is fine just having it like that.

Pin 16, the mode2 pin for the drv8801 is NC on the drv8800.

To have the DRV8801 working the same as the DRV8800 this mode 2 pin needs to be pulled low. But it already has a pull-down resistor. Does that mean i can leave it floating and it will act the same as a drv8800?
