DRV8881: XVREF's Recommended Operating Conditions

Hi All,

I have a question on DRV8881.

The maximum recommended operating range of VREF is V3P3,
If the output of V3P3 is 2.9V, is it a rating violation if 3.6V is input to VREF?

Or is VREF capable of inputting up to 3.6V regardless of the output of V3P3?

Hello, Ishiwata,

According to the spec, it recommends the VREF voltage is below V3P3+0.5V. I will keep the VREF voltage below 3.4V to avoid the argument with 2.9V V3P3.

We would like to confirm following;

There is the description on the datasheet P26.
“In sleep mode the charge pump is disabled, the H-bridge FETs are disabled Hi-Z, and the V3P3 regulator is disabled.”
In case of sleep mode, if we add external voltage to VREF, does it mean the device damages?
Then, we found the forum which is relation to VREF’s ABS.

Hello, Ishiwata-san,

When V3P3 is disabled, the VREF voltage pin should not affect the device operating because it is in sleep mode. The device can survive with a reasonable voltage range.
