Motor 8434EVM board not working external as expected

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8434

I have the  DRV8434 board,:

The specifics and test intent:

  • driving the Drv8434 from an external MCU.
    • Disconnect All Zero Ohm Between On Board MCU and  J3 Connector.
  • Power the board using USB all other signals on the J3 connector comes from external.
  • Hello, Harrington,

Before you disconnect all zero ohm, does the EVM work normal? Would you share all J3 test point voltages from external?

    Regards,

    Wang

  •  It was marginally stable  under window 10. What was happening before the modification of the board . After install the correct driver;

Once connected it would last connected for about ~2 to  3min than  disconnected. This will happened when couple of the GUI bottoms toggled . I get error status code 0x32.

I was concerned with how long the connection would last. Was aware of the issue of connectivity under window 10. Not sure if it is a window10 or hardware itself. Most likely the hardware since the exception thrown at me was MCU related 0x32 status code.

It would be ideal if another unit was available to compare  and validate issue.

  • Harrington,

In that 2~3 min before the EVM was disconnected, did the EVM work? Did you spin a motor with it?

Since you have removed all zero ohm resistors, the DRV8434 was controlled by the external signals. Would you read all those pin voltages?

  • Within  ~2min to 3min time frame . Motor does not spin at all .  I check the voltage and it appears they are at the correct level!

  • Harrington,

I am not sure the EVM works or not before the modification (remove all zero ohm resistor.)

Would you list all the voltages on J3 connector?

    Regards,

    Wang
