DRV8718-Q1: The comparison between integrated H-bridge and pre-driver

Part Number: DRV8718-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8145-Q1, DRV8705-Q1

Hello team,

About the integrated H-bridge and pre-driver(without MOS), in addition to the current ability, I want to know the comparison between integrated H-bridge and pre-driver(without MOS), (If you need an example, you can compare DRV8705-Q1 with DRV8145-Q1). Does integrated H-bridge have much more advantages over pre-driver? especially in EMI features?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Lanxi Li

  • Lanxi,

With pre-driver, you will have ultimate flexibility in terms of sizing external FETs to scale across different current needs.  Main benefit of integrated is size reduction as integrated will be much smaller in board area.

We have EMI reduction features in both integrated and pre-driver with slew rate control.  Layout will have to be more carefully done with external FETs to avoid large current loops.  So, integrated does reduce these loops and simplify layout.

    Regards,
