DRV8434SEVM: GUI software direction bug

Hi Sam,

Can you take a screenshot of the motor control page of the GUI. Similar to the picture below. What is the firmware version?

Also, on the motor selection page (below), which option did you choose? Did you choose DRV84xx?

I think the EVM software may be an older version which is not compatible with this latest GUI version. Let me confirm this with our internal team and will get back to you soon.

Ok.  If that is the case, please give me a link to the proper software download.  I am not seeing anything different on your site.

I think there might be compatibility issues with the newer GUI version and the firmware version on the EVM. Let me know if this works.

I have installed the updated version, but the firmware still shows 0.7.  Also I have tested the motor again and still cannot change rotation direction

The latest firmware version should be 0.7. The GUI image I sent previously is incorrect so please disregard it.

Can you provide am image of the register map? Also, can you monitor the DIR pin when changing direction? Is it changing as expected?

below is the picture. Also I monitored the DIR pin.  When I use the input-based direction toggle in the software, it does not change as expected.  It just stays at 3.3V.  But like I mentioned before the reciprocate function works.  And when I use that it will switch between ~0 and 3.3V.  unfortunately I need the input-based direction and not just reciprocate.

Thanks for sending the screenshot.

I noticed on the register map that some of the register bits on the CTRL registers are greyed out being unable to be changed. You should be able to read and write to these registers. I did not work on this project so I don't know if this is done by design. I wanted to ask you to change bit 5 of CTRL3 register (SPI_DIR) to change the direction this way instead of the DIR pin on the driver. Let me confirm with the engineer who worked on this project for confirmation. Will give you an update when I hear back.

In the meantime, I would like to confirm if SPI communication is working. Can you write to any of the SPI registers and monitor the SDI bus. Set the oscilloscope to trigger on a rising edge.
