MCT8316Z: Integrated Current Sense Measurement

Hello,

I understand this device has an integrated current sense built in, but I have not seen a way to read out that current measurement. Is there a way to read the current measurement on this device?

Hi Domenick,

No, CSA output pins SOx do not come out of the MCT8316Z. This is because current sense is only used for ILIM pin to implement cycle-by-cycle current limit. DRV8316 has the SOx pins output the integrated current sense as a voltage.

Hi Domenick,

You cannot current sense with MCT8316Z. You'll need to use DRV8316 + external MCU for current sensing, which you can use 6x or 3x PWM mode.

Why do you need current sensing in MCT8316Z?
