DRV8245-Q1: About IPRPPI Regulation

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

Hi, support team.

I would like to ask a question about the contents of IPROPI in the data sheet.

Why does the accuracy of the current sensor change depending on the output current?

Thank you.

  • Mizushima-san,

I am investigating.  Please allow until Monday, Jan 24 for response.

    Regards,

    Ryan

  • Mizushima-san,

The sense element used for the internal current sensing is a small power FET, referred to a sense FET. The matching of the power FET to this sense FET sets the current sense gain, AIPROPI.

This matching is well controlled at higher current levels. There is significant degradation in this matching at lower currents due to the change of FET operating region, temperature gradients and increased sensitivity to other uncontrolled variables in the design, which ultimately results in wider error limits.

    Regards,

    Ryan
