DRV8873-Q1: Response characteristics sample.

Part Number: DRV8873-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8873, DRV8874-Q1

We are considering a system that drives two proportional solenoids using the above motor driver.

I would like to consider on the desk whether the motor driver can satisfy the system characteristics.
Would you please show me the experimental data etc. about the following contents?

What you want to check
Response characteristics:
Is it possible to switch stably when switching from 0.3A fixed current to 1.3A current?

I think you can judge from the Bode plot of the IC error amplifier, but do you have any experimental data?

  • Hello!

I might not be understanding the question, but current is not regulated in the device at this level.  You can sense the current with IPROPI outputs and read back in micro-controller and adjust PWM based on feedback.  The DRV8873 itself would not regulate current internally...all done via external feedback loop and PWM control.

I asked the previous question, thinking that it could be examined with the Bode plot of the error amplifier like a DCDC converter.

Is there a way to desk study the response characteristics of a motor driver?
Is there a simulation model of DRV8873 for verifying the response characteristics?

  • Hello,

Again, there is no regulation available in the device at these current levels.  See table below:

So there is no error amplifier.  The output PWM will match the input PWM.  A DCDC is closed loop and trying to regulate to a particular voltage.

Unfortunately, there is no model.  Closest model we have is the DRV8874-Q1.

I understand that there is no error amplifier. and I found out that I had a misunderstanding.

Please let me resolve this matter once,

However, there are some matters that I would like to discuss again, so I will consult with you.
