DRV8245-Q1: [DRV8245-Q1] Inquiries regarding the use of internal FETs

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

Hi, TI support team

While reviewing DRV8245-Q1, I have a question as below.

1. Is it possible to drive the motor directly from the outside using internal FETs?

2. Approximately max.30A of current is required to drive the motor, but can the capacity be covered by using internal FETs?

The application we want to apply is Power seats.

Please, reply.

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • MJ,

    1)  Yes, it is possible to drive the motor directly from the DRV8245-Q1.

    2)  It really depends on the transient conditions in your system.  Peak current is rated to 32A, so it covers your maximum condition, but the amount of time will be limited at this current.  We have a calculator you can use.  Scroll down on this page to find it:

If an integrated device won't work, we have several gate drivers specifically for power seats.  DRV8714/18-Q1 are multi-channel.  Single channel are DRV8705/6.
