    Hi Terry,

    MCT8316Z-Q1 supports driving and braking in both directions. You can use the DIR pin to control direction of the motor and BRAKE to turn on the LS FETs in the hardware device (MCT8316Z0TQRGFRQ1) or coast the FETs in the SPI device (MCT8316Z0RQRGFRQ1). 

    For 4-quadrant operation, you will need to use these two pins to control regeneration when using braking in quadrants II and IV.
