DRV8701: Motor Voltage

Hi,

I am planning to use 7.2V motor with DRV8701.

The datasheet mentions "The DRV8701 is a single H-bridge gate driver that uses four external N-channel MOSFETs targeted to drive a 12-V to 24-V bidirectional brushed DC motor."

But the operating voltage is between 5.9V to 45V.

Can you please clarify?

If DRV8701 is not suitable, is there an alternative with external FET to drive 7.2V motor

Akash,

12V and 24V are just standard bus voltages. The device will work over the range as specified in the datasheet.

How much current is required for your load? I am asking because we have many integrated FET devices now that might be a better fit and easier to design with.

DRV8874/76 and DRV8243/44/45.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the confirmation.

The peak load shall be around 40A and the continuous load around 15A

OK, the DRV8245 is close, but won't allow 40A peaks.
