DRV8245-Q1: [DRV8245-Q1] Inquiries about product features and selection

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

Hi, TI Support Team

Please inquire for detailed product features.

Because it is difficult to check the reference circuit diagram through the datasheet,

Please share data other than the datasheet.

Please answer the following questions.

1. I know that overcurrent setting is possible when overcurrent is detected. Is it necessary to use SPI communication when setting? HW Is there anything to be added separately?

2. Is it possible to detect a motor short circuit?

3. Is PWM control possible? (MOTOR SOFT START function required.)

4. You want to use 2 products. Is individual control possible for each motor?

5. nSLEEP function will not be used. How do I process PIN? (MCU power is off when the product is not in operation.)

- In the case of OPEN, is there any possibility that CURRENT will flow through the corresponding port?

6. If MCU available ports are limited and you need to use 2 DRV8245-Q1, is there a pin that can be used in common?

If you have a shared PIN, how do you configure it?

7. There are HW Variant and SPI(S),(P) methods. What is the appropriate method for applying the above functions?

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hi MJ,

Thank you for your interest in DRV8245-Q1. Here is feedback.

    1. With HW variant, OCP level is fixed 32Amin/64Amax. Need SPI variant if would like to chose different current level. (Datasheet 7.5.9)

    2. Yes. OLP function can detect short condition. (Datasheet 8.3.4.3)

    3. PWM in can input through IN1/IN2 pins.

    4. Independent mode can operate each half bridge separately. (Datasheet 8.3.2.3)

    5. In HW variant, need to input pulse(20-40us)  on SLEEP pin to wake DRV. In SPI variant, nSLEEP can be tied to high. nSLEEP pin is internal pull down (7.5.2)

    6. DRVOFF pin is could be shared.

    7. DRVOFF pin is same both HW and SPI variant.

    regards
