DRV8770: What voltage does the load/motor sees?

Part Number: DRV8770

Hi,

Good day.

In the datasheet it states, "The DRV8770 can drive an H-bridge with power supply up to 100 V." Does that mean the load or motor can see 100Vp-p or 200Vp-p?

What is the maximum Low-side drain pin voltage? If I put the load between MOTA and MOTB then switch directions wouldn't the load see 100V and -100V when the supply is 100V?

Thank you for your response.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hi Cedrick,

Does that mean the load or motor can see 100Vp-p or 200Vp-p?

This means the H-bridge power supply can be up to 100V. So the SHx pins can support up to 100V as well. The voltage across the load (SHx pins) is +-100V.

What is the maximum Low-side drain pin voltage? If I put the load between MOTA and MOTB then switch directions wouldn't the load see 100V and -100V when the supply is 100V?

The max low-side drain pin as I mentioned above is 100V. The difference between MOTA and MOTB will always be either 0V or 100V ideally when PVDD=100V.
