Motorware on OSX and entry level kit for Motor Control SDK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, MOTORWARE

Hi,

1. I have installed CCStudio on my MAC machine, but I couldn't find MOTORWARE inside, is it obsoleted ?

2. can I add MOTORWARE on MAC version CCS ?

3. if no, and if I insist on MAC, I need to use MOTOR CONTROL SDK right ?

4. since my project is electric vehicle / bike, it's limit to HALL Sensor start-up with or with FOC, I don't even need FAST, therefore I don't need powerful MCU.

5. what's the entry level / cheapest MCU that's support MOTOR CONTROL SDK ?

Thx,

Tiger

  • MotorWare is installed separately from CCS--it can be downloaded here. Regardless, all of our newest devices are supported in the MotorControl SDK, so that's what I'd recommend anyway.

I would guess the TMS320F28002x devices would be the most suitable entry level C2000 device. It is supported by the MotorControl SDK. There's a Universal Motor Control lab project in there that has options for Hall sensor or FOC that may be a good one to check out.

As far as MacOS goes, I think the installers we have on ti.com are mostly Windows .exe installers, but if you install the package using the CCS Resource Explorer it should use zip based install that I expect should work on a Mac.

  • Thanks Whitney,

checked F280021PT 48P is affordable that I can replace F28027F, even my application is HALL sensor don't need FAST but consider MotorControl SDK is latest approach with better support, I will base on TMS320F28002x and search for suitable DRV module to start my project migration.

    Thx,
