DRV10983: Motor speed computation

Part Number: DRV10983

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to know how to compute for the RPM of their motor with 9-pole stator. The DRV10983 datasheet shows the equation to calculate the motor speed in RPM for a 4-pole motor, however, the equation doesn't include the number of poles.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Danilo,

Motor mechanical RPM is calculated based on number of pole pairs. I believe "9-pole" stator that you mentioned should be the number of stator slots because poles cannot be an odd number. Use below equation to calculate mechanical speed in RPM.

Mechanical speed in RPM = 60 * Electrical speed in Hz/Pole pairs.
