DRV8244-Q1: Questions about GND connection

Part Number: DRV8244-Q1

Hello Team

I have a question about the GND connection of DRV8244-Q1.

The DRV8244-Q1 has an internal VDD power supply based on the VM power supply.

For example, if the GND of the input pin and the GND of the IC are separated by SIGNAL GND and POWER GND, is there any effect?

Is it necessary to consider the GND float on the input signal side due to the GND impedance?

If there are any points to note regarding the GND connection, please tell me how to do so.

With Best Regards.

  • Hello!

There should be no attempt to separate the GND pins on our device.  Please see figure 11-1 in the datasheet for an example layout.  This should be followed.

  • Hello Ryan

The meaning of separating GND is not complete separation. It means connecting the control side GND and the motor side GND of the micom at one point.

I do not want to inject noise into the GND on the controlling side by lowering the impedance of the path through which a large current flows.

We are thinking of connecting as shown.

If you have any issues or concerns with this connection method, please tell me know about those issues or concerns.

    With Best Regards.

  • Hello again!

Thank you for the clarification!  There is no problem with that and understand the concern.  That will work just fine!

    Regards,

    Ryan
