DRV8243-Q1: OCP Function

Part Number: DRV8243-Q1

Hello TEAM

I have 2 question

1) I would like to know if the p/n PDRV8243SDGQQ1 is to be considered fully functional (considering the differences with

the production model) and suitable for use in production.

2) Reading the new version of DRV8243 data sheet SLVSG23B – DECEMBER 2021 – REVISED JULY 2022, I found this note

"The over current protection function does not support direct output (OUT1, OUT2) shorts less than 1 μH above 28 V".

I would like to know if the over current protection function support direct output short less than 1uH above 28V to GND and

if the ITRIP regulation function support direct output (OUT1, OUT2) shorts less than 1 μH above 28 V

Regards

Rodolfo

  • HI Rodolfo

    Sorry for our late reply.

    1) If device ID register is 0x32, it is final silicon device therefore functionally same. However if you receive notification from TI, please follow its instruction.

    2) Overcurrent protection does not support direct output short less than 1uH above 28V to GND.

3)ITRIP regulation function itself is active while direct output short. However ITRIP/current regulation has blanking time. Eventually ITRIP may not help.

Short summary is recommend to avoid any output shorts less than 1 μH above 28 V.

    Thanks,

    regards
