Hi Team!

My customer wanted to use DRV8912 to drive motor which needs 3A current, so we wanted to use 3 output in parallel in this application. Also the rest output maybe used to drive other things. Is this a good combination? Will there be a conflict between the outputs? Have we ever made a similar use?

Hello,

Please check the datasheet thoroughly. There are a lot of examples of this in the back of the datasheet. The device can be configured in many different ways with no issue.

One more question: if using 3 output in parallel in this application, what PCB design do we need to consider? Customer wants to know whether the actual output will be influenced if the three output lines are connected in parallel at the load side (motor), not at the chip(DRV8912) side.

Hale,

Connecting on the load side is not a problem as long as traces/wires are kept to a similar length/thickness to ensure good current sharing between all the outputs.

I want to make sure that the number of parallel channels given in the data sheet is continuous, for example, 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, 6; if the number of parallel channels is not parallel, can it be configured, such as 1, 3, 6 and 8, 9, 11？

Hale,

You can parallel any channels you like as long as you configure them to be the same (high/low/PWM).
