DRV8306: Request for confirmation on the type of bldc motor we can control with this reference

Hi, currently i'm working on the design of a bldc module control. I found DRV8306 interresting for my application but my question is can this IC control BLDC motor without hall sensor (I think no) ?

Hi Louis,

Thanks for posting to the e2e forum - below is the section of the datasheet that highlights how to control the device using '1x PWM mode interface'.

This conventionally relies on hall sensor inputs - but theoretically if you instead provide the proper signals for Hall Sensor Inputs from an external MCU's GPIO pins, that may be fine as well - they just have to follow the correct logic table sequence to match what's expected of trapezoidal commutation.
