ULC1001-DRV290XEVM: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM

Part Number: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM

Hi

We have a flame detector designed for outdoor use, using pyro sensors that view through a sapphire window. The window is a 3mm thick rectangle, elastomer-bonded behind an (essentially) arch-shaped window and secured using a screwed steel back-plate - acoustically quite a complex shape. The operating environment has contaminants varying from rain, fog, sea-mist, frost/ice, with dust, oil, bird-sh*t etc. We would like to discuss our application further...!

Best regards

Dave Randall

  • Hi Dave,

Understood on the application. This would be a little challenging considering the thickness of the sapphire window. I'll reach out, and we can discuss a path forward. If it is possible to add a second thinner lens in front of the thick lens, it could certainly work. Sapphire lenses can work with this technology, but lens thickness drives up power consumption.

Yes, we've heard of these many cleaning use cases! We don't have the capacity or setup to test all type of materials. Ultimately, the mechanical solution will not be owned by TI. We're here to share our knowledge of the mechanical systems, but ownership will be with the customer or 3rd party. We have seen good results with water/brine, mud mixtures, ice, and dust.

I encourage you to request access to the EVM files using the Request link on the EVM tool page. We have additional design resources on TI's Secure Resources page.

  • Hi Kelly,

What would you guess could be the maximum thickness for a flat glass lens that still works with ULC?

    Best Regards,

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

The typical thickness we predict is max ~2mm. A thickness over 2 mm would require significantly higher power to offset the bending moment.
