Hello,

No, then there will be no recirculation path when the FET is OFF. Why would you want to do this?

I have an additional question.
Is it okay to connect a clamp diode between the OUT terminal of the output and VM?

Hello,

Yes, this will essentially bypass the internal diode, but still give a recirculation path. As long as the voltage on the output node does not exceed the ABS MAX specification, no problem.
