DRV8912-Q1: SPI transfer problem

Part Number: DRV8912-Q1

Hi team,

When SPI controls a DRV8912, the data is 16 bits. But when the SPI Daisy chain controls a string of DRV chips, it seems that HDR1 and HDR2 are 8-bit in the datasheet, and the address and data behind are 8-bit. Is this time to shift and add to 16 bits for sending or change the SPI transfer to 8 bits at a time? Or does them really not matter, because the data will be collected at the edge of the SCK, and both 8 and 16 bits can be collected normally?

Thanks for your response.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your questions. Once DRV is used for daisy chain mode, DRV does not work with 16bit (8bit address + 8bit data) anymore.

Example of datasheet shows 3 DRV's daisy chain case. While nSCS is low, MCU need to send 8x8=64bit SPI data.
