DRV8301: MOS drive peripheral circuit design issue

Part Number: DRV8301

Hi Team,

The customer is wondering why the below 2 designs are not included in the recommended design of the datasheet and the development board:

1) The gate resistor provides a low-resistance bleed-off path for the shutdown current and reduces the turn-off time.

2) A parallel resistor between the GS poles of MOS provides a path for the discharge of the GS junction capacitance and prevents false turn-on.

Could you please help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

I believe that while there are many helpful circuit additions/configurations, we do not detail every possible design in our datasheets. We leave options open to the user if they wish to implement external circuitry to fit their application, material, space, and cost needs. If there is any required external circuitry for proper operation it will be listed in the datasheet and design resources.

Hope this information is helpful, and let me know if I can clarify anything further.

    Best Regards,
