Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8889-Q1,
Hello!
I know that the device is basically short circuit protected. But is the driver also short-circuit protected to ground at its outputs?
Many thanks
Heimo

Hey Heimo,
Generally yes, the device will protect itself from these conditions.
You can look at the Functional Safety FIT Rate, FMD and Pin FMA data for an Automotive rated driver such as the DRV8889-Q1, the behaviors of DRV8886AT will likely be similar.
I recommend also checking out the DRV8426, it's a more recent motor driver than the DRV8886AT with a better price point and likely slightly improved features.
