DRV8245-Q1: What is the current sense accuracy across the current range 1A to 11A?

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

E2E,

I'm considering to use DRV8245 for the valve controller.

I  have 2 questions below.

Current sense accuracy needs <15% with 1A to 2A.

How much is the sensing accuracy when over 10.9A?

But if you have alternative device/solution to meet this requirement, please advise me.

I just need H-Bridge driver (not half-bridge), max drive current 30A with high CS accuracy

Thank you,

Adam

  • Hey Adam/Customer,

Current sense accuracy needs <15% with 1A to 2A.

Unfortunately I cannot guarantee any accuracy beyond what is shown in the datasheet, you'll need to test it in your system conditions and see if its accuracy will suffice.  I suggest ordering a DRV8245S-Q1LEVM and testing it out.

That said, I suspect 15% accuracy at 1A is reasonable and around what the device will achieve.  Note that these accuracies also hold true across the full temperature range of the device, so if your device will always be running at room temperature then you might find better accuracy than specced.

How much is the sensing accuracy when over 10.9A?

Again I can't guarantee anything beyond the datasheet, so 5%.  But given the accuracy improves as the current increases, it will possibly be better than ±5%.

I just need H-Bridge driver (not half-bridge), max drive current 30A with high CS accuracy

The DRV8245 and DRV8244 are the only devices we have that support near 30A peak current.  After that you would need to look into a Gate Driver such as the DRV8706-Q1, it also has an integrated current sense amplifier

    Best,
