DRV8889-Q1EVM: Step mode configuration issue

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1EVM

Hi Team,

The GUI is the latest version 1.1.7 and the configuration is as follows:

Slew Rate:105-V/us;

Full-scale current:0.2;

Torque:31.25%;

All speed set 63 pps;

the software download was completed successfully.
I launched the software and checked the following points.
(1) Check that all the items on the right side of the software window are green.
(2) Check that the status at the bottom of the screen is "Hardware Connected".

(3)SPI write and read communication is successful, the register map interface shows 'successfully read register CTRL3'.

 I want to change the step mode from Full step with 100% current to 1/16 step, but when I click the button 'Start Input-based STEP', it will return to the default (full step with 100% current) after a few seconds.

And no matter how I set the step mode, the winding waveform seen by the oscilloscope is a full-step square wave. Please tell me how to make it into a valid configuration.

Regards,

Xiang

  • Hi Xiang,

    It looks like you may be having a power supply issue. As soon as you press 'Start Input-based STEP' button the power supply may be falling below the operating voltage of the device and resetting. You may want to check the power supply with an oscilloscope.

    IFS = 0.2A is a very low current and should have any issues. We have tested the EVM and GUI 1.1.7 with these conditions and have no issues running the motor at various microstep settings.
