DRV10983EVM: After installation, GUI hangs

Part Number: DRV10983EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have installed the DRV10983 GUI using the program "Setup_DRV109xx_EVM.exe".  After installing the GUI, I installed LabView using "LVRTE2014_f2Patchstd.exe".  After restarting Windows, I launch the GUI with "DRV109xx EVM".  It states "Default Config File Created", then I select Device "DRV10983" and click "OK".  Then the program completely hangs with a spinning blue circle.  The Window below is all I see.  To fix this, I uninstalled LabView, uninstalled DRV109xx_EVM, restarted Windows, then re-installed DRV109xx_EVM, then re-installed LabView 2014.  Again, the DRV109xx GUI just hangs on the image below.  When I click on the image below, Windows reports "DRV109xx EVM is not responding.  Close the program".

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks.

-Peter

  • Hi Peter,

    1. How long have you waited before closing the application?
    2. Can you open the windows task manager and check if the Memory, CPU, Disk, or GPU usage is at 100% after selecting a device?
    3. Does the GUI hang even if you do not connect the EVM to the computer and try staring the GUI in Demo mode?

    Regards,

    Joshua

  • 1. I waited > 5 minutes for some response.  It is definitely hung.

    2. Here's the Task Manager showing DRV109xx hung up (see picture).

    3. The situation below occurred when I powered up Windows with the EVM disconnected.  It doesn't matter whether there is a USB connection or not.  I also tried plugging in the USB to the "TI USB2ANY" device while it was hung, and nothing changed.

I suspect the problem is LabView.  I have definitely tried uninstalling and reinstalling LabView (including deleting the National Instruments directory on the disk), and it doesn't show any errors, but I'm suspicious.

  • Please allow me some time to look into this issue. I will aim to get back with you by the end of the week

    Regards,

    Joshua

  • I am still stuck with this issue.  I tried installing the DRV EVM on an old laptop and installed LabView, and that worked fine, and the DRV109xx EVM worked.  On my new laptop, I'm afraid I may have had other versions of LabView installed at some point, then uninstalled, but I don't know how that would interfere with the "LVRTE2014_f2Patchstd.exe" version needed by DRV109xx EVM.

  • Hi Peter,

Can you go to the following folder: Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time and Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time to check that 2014 is the highest date? If files were left over after uninstalling other versions of LabView, this could effect the GUI.

    Regards,

    Joshua
