Hi,
In this thread, Rick is suggesting that not having individual control over each half bridge reset could cause a problem driving a BLDC motor with the DRV8412. Can TI please elaborate on the problem that this could cause?
Thanks

Hi Haras,
Let me look into this and let you know.

I think I may have just found an answer to my own question in another forum post -- DRV8412 for stepper and BLDC. My understanding is that the DRV8412 cannot be used to drive a BLDC using trapezoidal control, because in order to produce the Hi-Z windows required for trapezoidal control, I would need a motor driver with resets for each individual half bridge. However, the DRV8412 can be used to drive a BLDC with field oriented control or sinusoidal control.
Can TI please confirm this? Thanks
Hi Haras,
You are correct. Trap control requires individual HI-Z control whilst DRv8412 doesn't offer that:
FOC should be possible with this driver, but we have dedicated BLDC drivers as well as sensor less FOC.
Best,
Keerthi
