DRV8262EVM: Operation by LAUNCHXL-F280025C

Part Number: DRV8262EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F280025C, DRV8262

Tool/software:

Hello team,

My customer would like to use DRV8262EVM and try to use their algorithm for the motor operation.
Q1. Is it possible with GUI?
Q2. Also there is the comment of "LAUNCHXL-F280025C" on the EVM.
Does it mean "LAUNCHXL-F280025C" can be used for thie DRV8262EVM?
If so how to use DRV8262EVM with "LAUNCHXL-F280025C"? Are there any guideline/User's guide?

  • Hello Hirata-san,

Thank you for posting in this forum.

My customer would like to use DRV8262EVM and try to use their algorithm for the motor operation.
Q1. Is it possible with GUI?

The GUI program is specifically designed to work with the firmware that is programmed in the MSP430 microcontroller in the EVM. The EVM source code is provided in the EVM webpage for download, https://www.ti.com/tool/DRV8262EVM. If the customer can program their algorithm within this frame work it can work with the GUI. If it does not fit in this framework within the MSP430 it will not work with this specific GUI. It is possible the customer can develop their own GUI with the TI GUI Composer framework which is available for free at https://dev.ti.com/gc/

We've created this feature for TI internal use only. However the customer is free to use this EVM with a LAUNCHXL-F280025C. They should solder the required connectors and perhaps some of the desired passives. As well as they can remove the jumper shorts from the two row headers that connect the MSP430 control signals to the DRV8262. The LAUNCHXL-F280025C connections are provided in the EVM schematic which can be downloaded from the EVM webpage. We do not have any other guidelines or User's guide for this feature. But it is a very straight forward use case for anyone who is familiar with the LAUNCHXL-F280025C and the DRV8262. I am assuming the customer is interested in designing a FOC type of stepper controller using this device.
