DRV8214EVM: DRV8214EVM

Part Number: DRV8214EVM

Tool/software:

Hello Everyone

i would like to measure the current curves of my 3 different motors over 60 milli seconds (the motors are then also under different loads etc...).

How can I do this with the GUI? (DRV 821x-EVM-GUI) Is this even possible? if not, do you have any other ideas?

Thank you very much in advance
greetings from switzerland

  • Hi flo,

    Howdy from Dallas!

To measure the I-V curves (current curves) of 3 different motors with different loads in a 60ms window, you will need to measure the motor voltage and motor current for each of the different loads. Without using the GUI, these measurements can be taken with a multimeter, source-meter, etc. to measure the voltage across and current through the motor. In order to make a plot of this data you would need to record the voltage and current for each configuration. This would involve sweeping the voltage supply across the desired range and recording the corresponding current. Then this data could be entered into a software of your choice to plot the I-V curves and analyze results.

The DRV8214EVM GUI does have windows for VM voltage and bridge current readings, however it would be recommended to measure with other instruments as well to verify measurements.

    Best,

    David
