MCT8316A: MCT8316A

Part Number: MCT8316A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCT8315A

Tool/software:

Hi,

Short background:

Till the new design which is in the pipeline we used to use DC brush motors or BLDC with hall effect.

In the production line we test the power stage drivers at PCBA level by direct drive (through the PCBA MCU or Test point with bed of nails)- turn on and off the half bridges over power resistors in the tester, "passively", meaning one by one at very low frequency.

The new design are using BLDC Sensorless with TI MCT8316A & MCT8315A, we would like to stick with this approche- to test in the PCBA production line the BLDC Sensorless drivers include the power stage.

My question's are:

1. Can we "direct" drive the 3 x power half bridges of the MCT8316A & MCT8315A through the I2C or others IC's pins? (we can fanout all pins to Test point for the bed of nails)

2. Can you advise for additional approche for testing the BLDC driver active wise of the power stage after the PCBA assembly?

  • Hi Shachar,

    1. There is no way to directly drive the power FETs.

    2. All units shipped are tested for integrity, including the power FETs at TI's production. Any specific reason you want to conduct this test?

    Thanks and regards,
