Hi team,
Does DRV8706-Q1 have the feature of passive freewheeling like DRV8714 and DRV8718? I didn't find such description in the datasheet.

Hi Grey,
Thank you for your questions.
Eventually DRV8706-Q1 can do almost same, but different approach.
With DRV8714-Q1, 4 combinations are listed up. Based on logic input(HB_PWMx = H or L), DRV provide 3 combinations (HS and LS OFF, HS ON and LS OFF, HS OFF and LS OFF)

DRV8706-Q1 can support those 3 combinations (HS and LS OFF, HS ON and LS OFF, HS OFF and LS OFF). It comes from different way which is combination of INx and nHIZx.

I want to stop here for this discussion. But strictly speaking, B and D is not same in DRV8706-Q1. INx polarity should be flipped in MCU if want to match to DRV8714-Q1.

Hi Morita-san,
Thank you for reply. From my understanding, customer can flip nHIZx with PWM if they want to implement passive freewheeling with DRV8706-Q1. Is that right?

Grey
Hi Grey,
Yes, customer can use nHIZx for passive freewheeling.
