DRV8876-Q1: Output transient protections

Tool/software:

Are there any recommendations for protections on the outputs of the DRV8876-Q1 device? TVS to clamp voltage transients? Diode to clamp negative voltage swings?

I am using the driver in independent PWM output control mode with a low current load (<10mA), but I want to make sure the outputs are protected from any potential transient events.

Just to confirm will you be using the independent half-bridge mode or the H bridge mode.

Hi Jessica,

A TVS diode on the OUT node would help to mitigate negative transient voltage spikes which exceed the abs max voltage. RC snubbers can also be added to help reduce ringing at the output. Most importantly though is the board layout, such as keeping the OUT current path as short as possible.
