DRV8305-Q1: fault code

Please provide hexadecimal values for ADDRESS and VALUE of the register you are seeing fault bits in.

This will help me understand which fault you see and how it might occur.

Thank you for the information. I will need some more info to continue debugging. 

1. First I want to know, are you able to spin a motor, then encounter these faults during operation? Or do you encounter these faults right away when trying to start up motor. My guess is that your VDS_LVL setting might be too low, which will trigger faults and not allow your system to spin motor.

2.. What is the idrive setting being used? 

3. What voltage value is the VDS_LVL of your device set to?

4. What is RDS on of MOSFET you use?

5. Is it possible to provide waveforms of GHx, SHx, nFAULT, VCP, VDrain at time of nFAULT pulled low?

When an error occurs, the MOS transistor has already been broken down.

Hi Joseph,

When an exception occurs, will the upper bridge arm MOS be in a breakdown state, causing the register to report the above faults?

Can the possible cause be deduced based on the register fault code?

There are still a variety of possibilities that could cause your issue.

So your MOSFET is damaged and will need to be replaced when the fault occurs? 

I am wondering if you can reduce IDRIVE settings through SPI and retest, this may help to mitigate the issue.

Yes, MOSFET is damaged and need to be replaced. DRV8305-Q1 is not damaged.
