DRV8662: The input frequency rates of PWM

Part Number: DRV8662
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2911, DRV2901

Tool/software:

Dear TI Engineer,

We have some question about the input frequency rates of PWM signal. We want to know the max. frequency rates of input PWM signal that it can support? Whether is can supports 40KHz frequency rates of input PWM signal?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hello,

Please see below for the amplifiers bandwidth at various output voltages.

It can not support up to 40kHz, but haptic applications typically drive within the 100s of Hz. What is the application?

  • Hi Sydney,

Thanks for you reply. We plan to connect a 40KHz PWM signal to the input of DRV8662 to drive the piezoelectric ceramic to generate an ultrasonic signal that pet dogs can hear. Do you have any better suggestion for this application?

    Thanks,

    Kind Regards

  • Hello,

These devices were not intended for this application, but I believe DRV2911 or DRV2901 could be a good fit here. They are used to drive piezos for ultrasonic lens cleaning applications so they can output the expected frequency range and take PWM input. The downside is that the drive voltage is much less. I don't believe we have a boosted similar device.
