DRV8256: DRV8256

Part Number: DRV8256

Tool/software:

Hello,

I just wanted to clarify input functionality in DRV8256.

My application will be brushed DC motor driver while Inputs are discrete, not based on PWM. It's just either just ON for awhile then OFF for awhile.

Can DRV8256 accept discrete or static signals (100% duty cycle) instead of PWM as input? I think other drivers like DRV8245 dose accept discrete as an input,  but I wanted to clarify on this device as well.

Thanks

  • Hi Samuel,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Yes, it does. Depends on the variant it can be controlled using PH/En interface or PWM interface. the input can be discrete under each of them and you can have 100% duty cycle as well. Please follow the tables below to control the driver.

The DRV8256E can be controlled using a PH/EN interface. Table below gives the full H-bridge state. By applying the input based on the table below you can control the output.

The DRV8256P is controlled using a PWM interface. You can also apply discreet input in this way as well.

Please let me know if you have any more questions

    Best regards,

    Mojtaba.
