MCT8329A: Fgen pin

Hi, it is my understanding that the FGEN pin must be pulled high at boot for the device to operate.

If multiple MCT8329A chips are used together, can the FGEN pins be tied together and pulled up? I don't intend to use the FGEN pin to measure speed.

Hi,

FG will toggle while motor is running.

There can be scenario of delayed boot up between device and at any point if FG is held low by one device it will be problem for other devices.

Thanks for your response- building on this, can I use a single NFAULT pullup resistor to indicate a fault on the motors (to indicate a general fault, and then pinpoint it with I2C)?

Hi,

It is not recommended to have common pull-up resister for NFAULT pin also. Please keep separate pull-up resister for each device.
