DRV8328: pull-down switch on high side gate pin (GHx)

Part Number: DRV8328

Hi team,

Customer want the gate pin pulling down during the input is OFF time.

Low-side (GLx) has pull-down resistor to LSS pin, but there is switch on high side (GHx) to SHx. What is the purpose of this switch? Is this required to BST voltage during ON time?

  • Hello,

The semiactive pulldown has a lower resistance value than the passive RPD_LS. This is designed to pull the gate down faster and prevent false gate turn on errors. The reason why the switch is there is because you do not want this smaller resistance always on passively, like on the low pull down.

    Thanks,
