DRV8873-Q1: DC motor driver which supports open/short detection

Dear TI experts,

My customer is looking for a DC motor driver which supports open/short detection both operating state and idle state.

I am not sure that DRV8873-Q1 can support open/short detection in idle state.

Could you check it and suggest other devices which supports open/short detection both operating state and idle state?

Customer will use 24V battery power(bus or truck) and 24V DC motor.

Current consumption is 0.5A (14W)

    The DRV8242-Q1 would be the best recommendation that can detect a short or open in the idle state. The DRV8242-Q1's OLP can be used to detect opens and shorts based on the results from preforming the passive open load, the presence of an open or short can be determined. Section 7.3.4.3 of the datasheet has more information on the open load passive feature.
