DRVx IC: Solenoid support or not? Why!?

Hi,

I would like to know why there are some motors drivers that can drive solenoids and others not?! What is the criteria for TI to decide if this feature is supported?

It seems not PWM vs Phase/Enable mode! Ipeak and Irms too... Maybe solenoid needs specific motor protections?!

Hi Denis

Actually all the motor driver devices could be used as solenoids driver. The difference is on the driving current and voltage capability, whether has current limit function, whether supports external voltage clamping for the recirculation.
