Hi, Team,

I have a question about "nFault" of DRV8801-Q1.

Customer wants to use it on VBB=9V with Fault indicate function.

However I know DRV8801 has VBBNFR is 12V typicaly.

Which means, I understand they can not use Fault function under this VBB.

-Can DRV8801 be use on VBB=9V normaly without Fault function?

Hi Koh,

Good to see you posting on the forum.

The DRV8801-Q1 will operate properly between 8V and 12V. The nFAULT indicator is not valid during this time.

It is recommended to use the DRV8801A-Q1 for VBB <12.

OCP, OTW, and OTS are reported on nFAULT. UVLO is not reported. The DRV8801A-Q1 will operate at lower voltages than the DRV8801-Q1.

You mean, DRV8801A can report these fault on 9VBB (w/o UVLO), is my understanding right?

Hi Koh,

Yes, the DRV8801A-Q1 does not report UVLO. Please see section 7.3.8.1 on page 11.
