DRV8805 & DRV8806 selecte Question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8805, DRV8806, DRV8805EVM, DRV8880

Hi,

It does not determine to what the control signal, it uses 2A of UNIPOLAR STEPPER MOTOR.

(Continuous current is scheduled for approximately 1.4A)

DRV8805 and DRV8806 or is suitable?

2-Phase Excitations(Full-Step) Is it possible to operate? (2A) Example of a circuit that connected the UNIPOLAR STEPPER MOTOR using DRV8805 or DRV8806 Have you?

Best regards

  • Hi Cafain,

The PWP package of the DRV8805 can be used with proper heatsinking.

Full step can be achieved by setting SM1 = SM0 = logic 0.

The DRV8805EVM is an example of the circuit.

Please note: there is no current regulation. If VM/motor resistance is > 2A, this may not work for your application.

An alternative is to use the unipolar motor in bipolar mode. This can be achieved by using a bipolar driver and reducing the current through the coils. An example of this type of driver is the DRV8880.
