DRV8848 GUI S/W failure

Hi~

To evaluate customer damper step motor, I installed GUI composer(6.1.1.0) & driver & GUI based on EVM document.

But when I try to run execution file 'launcher.exe', there is no feedback after double clicked.

Is there any more thing to care about? 

Pls, advice to me to launch DRV8848 GUI properly.

    Have you put the GUI folder into the "C:\ti\guicomposer\webapps" where you installed the GUI composer?

    Also there is a damper TIDA, FYI. www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00297

    I am posting on this thread as I see similar behavior to what was described... did the tools ever work for this user?

    In my install, launcher.exe runs but does not complete "Loading Application...", even after 1 hour.    Here is a screen shot:

    I followed all the steps of the EVM Appendix A install guide...

    and all files mentioned appear to be present.  Here is the folder structure:

    The EVM connects and LED blinks.

    I tried reinstalling software (v6.2.0), no luck.  Even backed up to v5.5.0.2, no application window all:-(

    Any clues would be appreciated!

    Please confirm you uninstalled the previous GUI Composer Runtime before reinstalling v6.2.0? I also have v6.2.0, downloaded DRV8848EVM GUI and I am able to run successfully. Thank you

    Yes, I did uninstall before reinstalling.

    FYI, I am running the tools within a Win 7 virtual machine (VMWare) on a Mac.

    FYI, running the modem_m3 application behaves the same way (i.e., "Loading Application..." screen forever). Seems like some component is missing. I tried to check the installation against the GUIComposer Software Manifest rev3 pdf, everything looks to be in the proper paths with the exception of maybe DoJo (folders contain dojo_1_8 rather then dojo_1_7 listed). I am guessing this is okay?

    Do I need to download any additional files/tools?
    Do I need to start with an older install version, and incrementally add newer versions?

    Hoping to get this resolved ASAP so that I can do the eval of the device.

    In the meantime, I will look to see if I drive the DRV8848 without using the MSP430 half of the EVM. If you have any advice on this front, let me know. As you know, I am trying to eval DRV8848 with autotune as a possible replacement for the DRV8825 in my application.

    I ran the trace for the DRV8846EVVM app and the default modem_m3 app... both appear to behave the same.  Attached are the log files.

    Hi Martin,

    I found a ".log" file that is generated when launcher.exe is run... seems to include many messages regrading .jar files, and then shows a Frameworkkevent error.  I have attached the log file (renamed as readme.log) hoping that it helps.

    Hi Dave, 

    The first log file that you sent did not have much information that was useful. However, the second .log file does  have interesting information. That exception that you mentioned refers to a file (davinci...) that contains libraries for various widgets. All other warnings are also indicating that something is not quite right with installation as it should not be missing files and it should not be trying to re-install them. 

    GUI Composer can run in any directory that is writeable. Would you be able to try installing it in a new directory e.g. C:\testgc ? I would suggest trying 6.1.1 or 6.2 runtime. The key requirement is that the application be copied to that webapps folder.

    I am speculating that uninstalling/re-installing may have left some old files in C:\ti\guicomposer that are affecting GUI Composer this way.
